Eleventh Patrol

This 6-hour patrol was another training patrol, this time again for Natina Tse. A good patrol with as many things I could think of to pass along to Natina on her final training.

We started our patrol with an immediate need of some Chinese translating. Walking from the rear of the station to our unit we were flagged down by a man and his daughter who needed to amend their burglary report they filed on a recent burglary. We walked with them outside to the front desk of the police station where Of… Continue

Fire-Base Detail

This detail originally began as a traffic checkpoint. Being the Duty Officer on this detail, I performed the perfunctory telephone calls the prior evening reminding all who signed up to be on time at the CRO. Midday the day of the detail, I received a call from Det. Cobian informing me that this was turning into a detail to assist the fire-base established at the Osborne exit at Hansen Dam along the 210 freeway.

This fire-base was the main camp where all men and women fighting the "Station Fire… Continue

Tenth Patrol

This 6-hour patrol, was an unplanned 4-man patrol with myself, Natina Tse, Ingrid Chevez, and Lupe Ferrer. Original plans were a training patrol for Natina but due to the shortage of vehicles we merged 2 patrols in one vehicle. With at least one trip through Lupe's barrio *smiles*, we patrolled the rest of El Monte until 10:30pm. I felt we had some real potential having 3 languages spoken: english, chinese and spanish, though none were needed by the EMPD this evening.

Our lunch at Doublz was ne… Continue

Ninth Patrol

My intentions of tapping into the experience of our veteran VCAP was well rewarded. This 4.5 hour patrol was spent in the company of Don Travis and Carol Kawabe. This was my first 3-man patrol. This arrangement facilitated our patrol with having 2 observers, driver and passenger, while the person in the back was filling up our patrol log.

A good patrol with much insight to what some experienced VCAPs have to offer us new-folk like myself. Learned where "little 5-points" is and the use of Meeker… Continue

VCAP Meeting

This meeting dealt with the topic of "Advanced Professional Conduct". Summarizing that title means that we should act at all times as if someone is looking and observing our actions and we should act accordingly. An important topic.
